I'm ready for 2012.
Believe me, 2011 was filled with some amazing moments, but it also kicked our butts and made us step off our paths of focus a lot. When it comes to setting your true passions aside to keep your head above the waters, then I really tend to dislike the 'lessons and trials'.
In our perfect world, every day would be devoted to health, art, happiness, helping, learning, {and copious amounts of good food and wine}. Really, is this too much to ask? One life to live, let's do it right, non?
Over christmas, my amazing Sean created the above masterpiece. The moment I first laid eyes upon this gorgeous chalk drawing, I wept. The strokes of genius took my breath away, and awakened a yearning for more. More art, more culture, more healthy endeavors...more living in the moment of beauty.
This will be my intent for the new year ~ to not stray from our passions, our goals, our dreams.
New beginnings are good. Fresh starts with the rear-view mirror detached. A focus on what's ahead and the glorious path which is before us.
Cheers to a new year.

Lovely. I was struck by this painting when I first laid eyes on her...

Yes, the rear view mirror detached. Perfect! That's what I need to do in 2012. Happy new year Mel!
ReplyDeleteO.k. so much to comment on here. First and foremost, see you later 2011. I have such a strong feeling about 2012 that I hesitate to get all mouthy about it. But it can't be helped. I pretty sure it's going to be spectacular. And yes, this past year was full of curve balls. I'll just leave it at that for now.
ReplyDeleteOn to this stunning work of art that your Sean created. I'm in love. Would he ever consider a limited addition run of signed reproductions? Seriously, I'd be first in line with my checkbook. Or a series based on this theme? It truly is a masterpiece. So much soul and power.
Happy new year my friend. Here's to a year or creativity, love, good food, good wine, everything you said. Amen. =)
what. the. hell. is. this.
ReplyDeleteperfection. gave my arms and legs all kinds of goosebumps. whoa. kind of speechless.
it would've been totally fine and understandable had you married that man solely for his good looks. you got lucky, kid!
{it goes without saying he landed a gold mine, too.}
I could not have said this better...in fact, I may just leave this screen up so I will read it again and again... Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeletehere! here!
ReplyDeletei may turn my rearview mirror to the side for a couple of months...
but i will jump, feet first, into 2012 with you my beautiful friend.
it goes without saying, your artist, your sean...oh my? unbelievable.
21 days my dearest. tick-tock....tick-tock....
When I first saw the drawing I wondered what master artist painted it...and now I know, Sean did! Truly beautiful, powerful and full of energy.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year - let's make it the best ever.

Melissa, this piece Sean did is incredible. Such strength and grace and passion -- he put so much into it. 2011 was my year of restlessness. I'm hoping to find the peace this year. And I never thing it's too much to ask for the world, every day. Happy New Year, darling.
ReplyDeleteLots of love to you and your talented family for a wonderful 2012 x
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful 2012 :)
ReplyDeleteYour husband's drawing is absolutely beautiful Melissa, he is so talented. I would love something like that in my home.

I love this. I read it the day you posted it, but couldn't comment from my phone - I love your honesty and your passion. I hope we get to meet up in person one of these days. How about some banana bread and tea? Or prosecco and chocolates? I hope this year is FULL of wonderful moments for you all. Happy New Year Mel!!!
