Pop! Pop! Pop! ~ don't you just love to hear the sound of popcorn popping? The transformation of these little kernels filling up our bowls as we gather around for foreign film night {my vow to learn French one way or another} is definitely a fall/winter weekly ritual.
I'm old-fashioned when it comes to popcorn ~ stove-top popping is the only way {especially since I refuse to own a microwave, gasp!}. Heat up organic coconut oil, add the golden corn, and let the magic begin! Upon transferring to the bowl, add a hefty sprinkle of Himalayan salt. Voilà: a perfect snack!
Always looking for a few new tasty tricks, so what's your favorite way to add a bit of flavor to popcorn?
I know I'm so strange, but I'm not a popcorn lover myself. Might have something to do with the fact that I literally broke a tooth on a kernel in school, which resulted in a root canal. But you photos are lovely! And it sounds delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't own a microwave either! :) Eat fresh, baby! It's the only way to go.
ReplyDeleteDoes the coconut oil make the popcorn taste... tropical? :) Or does it pretty much taste the same?
Dear Mel, first of all I would like to congratulate you on being a lucky winner of my Dior lipstick Give Away! :-)))Please, visit my last post for the formal announcement.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I had no idea popcorn can look so amazing! Almost like little clouds on the plate. This picture along made me want to try it. :-)))
Such a lovely blog! As for popcorn, a sprinkling of parmesan cheese, or the tiniest bit of seasoned salt. :)
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and will again...if I could live in your house and eat with you guys daily...it would be bliss! Real popcorn?! So simple yet seems so much more special.
ReplyDeleteNow only you my dear can make popcorn look so amazing...it is only 6:30 am and I want a huge bowl for my breakfast...I think I will be craving it all day!
ReplyDeleteI sooooooo agree with you...NO Microwave stuff...only stovetop.
Hugs for a wonderful day sweet one. xoxoxo
Hi Mel,
ReplyDeleteYuuuummmmy! I'm bringing Noel & the Jasmine tea! We'll be right there!
XO's
Auntie Janet
this is my favorite little treat as well... that little bit of coconut makes me so happy. oxo
ReplyDeleteMel,
ReplyDeleteThis post brings back memories of my mother popping fresh kernels on the stovetop. I must admit...I have yet to pop popcorn this way. Yes, I have bought the microwavable popcorn in the past, BUT it is not the same! In fact, it has been years since we've had popcorn.
Popcorn kernels and coconut oil on going on next week's grocery list:)
Oh, and Mr. à la parisienne and I love French films. Movie night with a French movie is always a treat!
Amusez-vous! (Have fun!)
Mandy
And you really don't own a microwave???
ReplyDeleteOkay, I agree microwaving things does make me feel a little uneasy, but I am interested to know how a day of your cooking looks.
It will put me to shame; I am sure.
Mandy
Stove top popcorn is the ONLY way to make popcorn!! I come from a line of popcorn lovers! Have a beautiful week! xxoo :)
ReplyDeleteLove a little fresh ground pepper on mine...
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!! I am a butter gal ... and I love when my popcorn has butter on it ... not too much but not too little. Love this post!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm nutritional yeast on mine with coconut oil yum yum!
ReplyDeletepopcorn has never looked so good! When my grandmother passed away there was a fight over her "popcorn pop" which was well used and loved by all. My sister won and it's still her favorite way to make her popcorn. My Yiyia always added burnt butter. Every time I smell burnt butter I think of her!
ReplyDeleteDelicious! My favorite add on is finely grated smoked gouda cheese...heaven!
ReplyDeleteWe use an air popper and my kids love to watch the action. Popcorn is good! Microwaves are not. :)
ReplyDeleteyour popcorn is probably the best in town. isn't it? i bet it is :)
ReplyDeleteme, on the other hand...i always use a microwave. gasp!
O make mine on the stovetop as well. I have a crushed piments spice that I bought at Hedriard ~ a little sprinkle adds just the right amount of zest. I am getting low on the stuff....need a shopping trip to Paris!
ReplyDeleteYUM that looks good and way better than anything out of a microwave
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I absolutely agree with you. SO much so that when my daughter tasted microwave popcorn for the first time, she asked me what was wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteYUMMMM Mel! This looks divine~~
