giddyup ~

This weekend was filled with all sorts of outdoor goodness ~ farmers markets, gatherings with new and old friends, small town parades and festivals, and a horse named Darby.

I can't stop thinking about this handsome guy.  So majestic and aged to perfection at 28 years of life, and oh those eyes just melted my heart.   Thankfully, Darby belongs to my good friend, Jacki, which means we can have a riding rendezvous often.

Tell me, are you a rider or prefer to admire from afar?

  1. How sweet. I love horses and wish I could ride everyday. My Mother still talks of riding and I love the pictures that I have of her as a young lady riding.

  2. I love these photos and what a treat to have a friend with such a lovely creature. I love horses and I wish I were more comfortable with them. I used to be as a child and I remember going horseback riding a few times and being nervous. I think that feeling is a hold over.

  3. I went to riding camp every summer as a pre-teen and teenager. Rode equestrian, rodeo, the works. My best horse story is from about 10 years ago when I was taking a lesson on a horse I knew well - he spooked at something and bucked me off. After I caught my breath and stood up, he walked over to me and rested his head against my chest. I think he was sorry...

  5. What fabulous photos! I am a rider! Was on the equestrian team in college, and oh how I miss it. I can't wait to introduce Fi to riding properly! She's sat on a horse, of course, but I want her to love it like I do! (Hopefully!)

  6. Wonderful photos! We owned horses when I was a girl so I spent many days riding, feeding,& brushing our horses -- we even had a pony. Although I still ride (now and then) your blog reminded me I need to take some time and get my little ones out for a ride. Happy Monday, Mel!

  7. So beautiful hunnie....I love horses and this one is such a soulful guy. I will ride them, absolutely. No fear but, I like to admire them from afar ( not too afar though) better. :)

  8. So cute! Nothing better than horses and chickens. Get me up on that quadruped immediately. One of my favorite pastimes especially in the fall...

  9. Gorgeous pictures. Darby is so handsome! I love animals and SO enjoy petting horses. Unfortunately, had a bad accident on a horse when I was young so a little gun-shy to ride one again.

  10. I would love to say I'm a rider, but I've never had the chance to ride a horse before. Maybe that needs to go on some sort of "things to accomplish in the next year" list. Darby is such a beautiful horse and I LOVE the photo of you and the little crumb on top of him. You're so lucky to be able to get outdoors so much!

  12. I would love to ride, but as luck has it, I'm incredibly allergic to horses! I grew up around them with many family members who ride, so it's always been tortuous. ;) Luckily, now I watch my two girls at horseback riding lessons and live a little vicariously... :)
