We love to travel! And now that our little Guapa (the endearing Spanish word loosely translated as beautiful) has entered our happy world, we haven't stopped! In fact, our gypsy lifestyle might have increased a bit due to the fact we LOVE to introduce her to new places, people and things.
This recent trip to Spain was her first adventure on European soil, and let me tell you, she hasn't been the same since! Not only does she dance the Flamenco to every Spanish guitar song, but she also proclaims "OLE" at the end of each piece of music she hears including Tchaikovsky. Her taste buds have been primed with delicious ice creams, she discovered the Fountain of Youth, and she has a special affinity for Vespas.
So instead of trying to answer the question we hear most often: "Are you really traveling with a baby/toddler?" We have a rebuttal...."Why NOT travel with them?" My goodness it was great, and we can't wait for our next trip because this little girl has a lot to learn and see. We're thinking Paris should be next.....

I so love your blog, Mel! Your daughter is just precious and I think it's wonderful that you can expose her to so many different places and experiences so young. People underestimate how much little ones can absorb.
ReplyDeletelucky girl to have such great parents! good for you-and she will be so well rounded for it-what a love!
ReplyDeleteOh my, she is too cute. Those photos capture so much. Good for you to be traveling with your little one. Would love to hear about your tips for flying with a toddler some time. Maybe future post?
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I have mental images of her Flamenco and OLE.. Just lovely Mel. She is adorable and I think the only issue with travel would be if the parents found it draining. She will certainly grow with an open mind! Thanks for sharing your 'Guapa'!!
ReplyDeleteShe is a cutie!! I think this is neat that you travel with your little Guapa. This will only enchance her desire as she grows for the beauty around her and to appreciate all the fab places in the world.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! Soooo beautiful! You're very lucky!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! The dude just turned one and I've been reluctant to make a major trip with him but you've inspired me! Blog rolled you lovely lady. Oh and that little munchkin is so beautiful!
ReplyDeletesuch a gorgeous little girl! I envy her lifestyle :)
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! And I agree--my husband and I have been to Costa Rica a bajillion times, but this last trip with Zoey was by far the best.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolute DOLL your little Gaupa is!!! What a beautiful influence you are on her! She is full of charm and will have the soul of a true artist no doubt! Thanks for sharing this little one and her being with us~

ReplyDeletewhat a joy! excellent post. she is muy guapa!! what a great mom you are to show her the wonders of the world.
ReplyDeleteoh my my my ... your wee gaupa is so precious! i really love the middle photo ... a true biker chick checking everything out ... with the sweetest doo rag ever!
ReplyDeletetravelling with young children is absolutely the way to go ... they are such little sponges taking everything in with such zest and gusto ... absolutely contagious!
when our twins were six weeks old and our older child a toddler, we motored from mid canada to the west coast ... i nursed the twosome on the go in the back seat (interesting but effective!) ... i was leery in the beginning, but was oh so grateful to have taken that trip ... we did that trip a few times, plus other adventures with little ones ...
thanks always, mel ~
ole!
prairiegirl
she is one lucky guapita!
ReplyDeletewhat a cutie, if you ever need a babysitter on the trip you know who to call (that would be moi).
I like the way you think. We definitely plan on traveling with our little girl once she's ready. Of course, I'm sure we'll take some trips on our own, as well, but what fun to see the world through the eyes of a baby again. She looks so cute eating that ice cream cone!
ReplyDeleteOooh the cute chubby baby legs! What adorable photos. xo
ReplyDeleteOHMYLORD ABOVE!!! she is the cutest thing ever!!!! wah!!! SHE IS ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOLE!!!!
She is so beautiful!!! We love to travel with our children too, they have been all over the world. I just don't get the not travelling with kids thing...its the best!! We get on a plane as soon as they are 2 or 3 months old and then we are off....
ReplyDeletehave a great day
Oh, how fun! I went on a trip to Brazil with a 3 yo....24 hour travel time to get there...and she did great! I think Paris sounds wonderful...my husband and I went there for our honeymoon. Take care, Caroline
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a natural born traveler! I think our first son would have been able to travel well as a toddler - but he would never sit still making for some stressful moments in restaurants and museums. He also wasn't much of a sleeper. We never got to test is out though since I found out I was pregnant with the twins shortly before his first birthday. And I don't care how good your kids are - traveling with THREE toddlers can't be fun for anyone!
ReplyDeleteI love to travel and love that you're introducing your little girl to the wonders of the world so early on. Only good comes of that!
ReplyDeleteshe is such a little cutie!! I love traveling with my little ones too!
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! And you give me inspiration (hope?) that one can travel after children!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! How adorable that she says Ole! I love it! I think you just made my morning. :)
ReplyDeleteSo guapa...love that shot of her with the ice cream. that might be the cutest nickname I've ever heard!
ReplyDeleteShe is a very lucky little girl. I don't think there's anything ridiculous about traveling with children. If anything, I want to hang out with her. I have a hard enough time finding adults in Iowa that love flamenco and Fado! Ole, indeed!
ReplyDeleteSuch a darling!
ReplyDelete...watch out for aunty L, I am a cheek squeezer!
"OLE" indeed!! You are so very blessed~
~XO*
What a cutie!!! I think that exposing a child to other cultures from an early age is one of the greatest gifts you can give. And I second the Paris idea! (Of course.) ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you little girlfriend ... love vespas and ice-cream, and so stylish in your cute scarf.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fabulous you take little Guapa to see the world, my parents did that for us kids and I'll always thank them for the wonderful experiences.
"Ole"
I congratulate you! I wish my husband and I hadn't been so inyimidated by travelling with our son. It took us 1 1/2 years to get on a plane! Keep on going :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie!
ReplyDeleteEs MUY Bella tu gitana! ; ) (your gypsy is beautiful!) I call my daughter my little gypsy too (but well as you can see my name lol) those are lovely pictures & in fact My daughter starts Flamenco soon, maybe your babydoll would enjoy it? XOXO happy to find your blog!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute I would consider taking her on MY next trip. She is even dressed like a little international traveler. Good for you to take her along, it has to make the memories that much sweeter.
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute how could you not take her with you?
ReplyDeleteif i ever have a little girl, i want her to look just like yours - OH MY GOODNESS, she's adorable!!!
ReplyDeletexoxox
OMG! How could you not want to expose that little lamb to as much as possible! My parents traveled with 3 of us all our lives and it really opens up the world in a way nothing else does. You're giving her a great education.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely to introduce your daughter to different cultures , food and music ? .......and I would love to hear her 'ole' at the end of every piece of music she hears...here's to the next and all of the family holidays that you go on in the future and , I'm sure there will be many more little incidents that she will have, that will have us all in stitches !! XXXX
ReplyDeleteCute is an understatement. What a fun age!!!!
ReplyDeleteParis! Oh, it should be. What a lovely, precocious little lady you have on your hands.
ReplyDeleteAnd those pigtails!
Cheers.
Lovely blog, followed you over here from my pal Scottish Lass at the Parenting Myth. Your trip to Spain looked divine. My daughter is a little older, but we have also travelled with her since she was wee. Challenging sometimes yes, but I can't imagine doing it without her now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll. There's no way I could ever go on a trip and leave her behind. I agree...if you just go for it and start em young, they become natural travelers. We've taken a similar approach with our daughter and she does really well "on the road". Thanks for sharing such wonderful pictures and stories.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Mel, she is absolutely beyond words-- so adorable! And how wonderful that you can and do take her with you; undoubtedly, you are giving her a gift, as well as creating memories you will never forget and perhaps ones she won't either (and if they don't fully stick in her memory yet, surely they will soon.) Oh, and the "OLE" bit is hilariously cute!
ReplyDeletewhat a cutie! i wish that my parents had been able to travel extensively with me when i was younger. she is so incredibly lucky to have these experiences, and i'm sure she will be the most interesting kid in school!
ReplyDeleteaahhhh paris....i want to go back!!!!
Just adorable! I love that you are introducing cutie-pie to everything. She will be so flexible through this. Good for you-to include her into all that you enjoy. Surely she will learn to love travel.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh so gorgeous!!!! x
ReplyDeleteOh, Melissa, what a gift you are giving your little gypsy. Travling is such a wonderful thing for children. These photos, by the way, are simply more beautiful than words can express. xoxo Gigi

my husbands parents toured around europe for a summer in a van with 5 kids putting on marionette shows {his mother would sew the clothes} almost all of their kids are either artists or musicians.....i don't know if could handle my four boys. but one cute little girl {like yours} definitely.
ReplyDeleteHi Mel,
ReplyDeleteFound you through Claudia at Paris Apartment...your little girl is a little cutie!
Thought I would share with you about our travels.
We live in Australia and have done an enormous amount of travel for business/pleasure with our children - at least 4 out of the 6 ( older boys arent so keen on doing things with Mum and Dad!!)
The experiences and life education they have received has been amazing and we wouldnt have it any other way. As some of the children are at school any concerns that we have had about the kids missing out has far been outweighed by the posistive feedback we get from teachers about the contribution our children make to the class....to the point that my 6 yr old sons teacher had to throw her days program out the window as he had managed to redirect the class into discussions/questions about driving across the Nullabor and things we had seen.
So enjoy your travels and your little ones inquisitiveness..we should all remember to look at things through the eyes of children.
Your daughter is so precious! And Spain?! How beautiful. We use guwapa or guwapo (if it's a male) in our language, too! she definitely fits the description.
ReplyDeleteBrava! We traveled all the time with our baby and loved it. What a gorgeous girl you have!
ReplyDeleteshe is soooo cute. i like to travel, if i have kids in the future, i wouldn't stop.
ReplyDeleteI agree - travel the world and take your kids with you!!

I'm a traveler and when I'll have children i'll take with me everywhere I'll go! I remember my trips with my famyliy so I'd like one day I could do the same with my kids! A unique experience!!!

Cheers! I so agree! Our little one is 11 months old and has been to London twice, Florida and now Chicago...and we're going to Utah in September! I adore traveling, and she does too - it's already apparent!
ReplyDeleteWhat adorable photos of your little one - she is just precious. Super cute ponytails!!
Great photo with the Vespa! Love the Can-Travel attitude and agree that one of the best things you can do for a child is expose them to different cultures and experiences. Ole!
ReplyDeleteoh what a lucky girlie to have parents like you!
ReplyDeleteso fun.

Oh, Melissa! She is the sweetest, cutest little thing! It makes me so happy to think of the 3 of you galavanting around Europe together! And makes me want to pick up my two girls, and my hubby and zoom off to Paris the first chance we get! Perhaps we will :) How wonderful and inspiring!

Melis
ps your bag is up tomorrow, baby! :)
I can't wait to take my B over seas...xo t
ReplyDeletep.s.
could she be any cuter...goodness no!
I saw your link over at Melissa Loves and I am so glad I did! BTW- your purse and it's contents are amazing! Your blog is so gorgeous and I loved these photos in particular because our daughter was about this age when we lived in Barcelona. Many people think we are crazy for packing up and moving overseas (we are in Morocco for now) but we wouldn't trade our experiences for anything! We love traveling with our three kids. Maybe it helps us to just relax and realize that we are not going anywhere quickly so we slow down and see more of what is going by!
ReplyDeleteWishing you well and looking very forward to seeing more of your blog!
ok, I don't have kids but I never understand why people always ask people with kids that question. I know it's not as easy as traveling alone but so what? It's an adventure for the kidlets and it's fun for the parents too. My parents took us everywhere and my sister and bro in law take their daughter everywhere...she's 15 months and she's been to Paris and Buenos Aires already. and they lived to tell the tale! my husband and I always say that we will do the same as long as we can afford it. I think it's wonderful that you're teaching her so much at so young and opening her eyes to this enormous world...
ReplyDelete:)
i think when she travels at this age, it will be soooo much easier for her and you as a family in the future and what perspective she is gaining on the world! not to mention spreading joy wherever she goes, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteyour blog is always so inspiring and gorgeous...
oh my goodness. too cute. so glad she's traveling with you!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is the sweetest post! She is so beautiful and I love that she says Ole! Your blog is so wonderful!
ReplyDelete¡¡¡Ella es tan GUAPA!!! (She is so beautiful!!!)
ReplyDeleteOLE!!!
